Leave the US cloud.
Move somewhere cosy.
We migrate startups and mid-sized companies from AWS, Azure & Google Cloud to European providers like Hetzner, IONOS, STACKIT or OVHcloud. Fixed price, zero downtime — and no grey hairs for your team.

The problem
Your servers are in Frankfurt.
Your data answers to Washington.
"EU region" is marketing
The US CLOUD Act obliges American providers to grant US authorities access to data — no matter where the server is located. eu-central-1 is a postcode, not a legal framework. For your GDPR assessment, your DPAs and your enterprise customers' questionnaires, that remains a structural risk. More on compliance →
The kill switch is real
In 2025, Microsoft blocked the email account of the International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor — because of US sanctions. If it can happen to a world court, what protects your company? More and more investors, customers and tenders now explicitly ask for EU hosting.
The bill grows faster than you do
Egress fees, opaque pricing, licence surcharges. European providers deliver the same compute often at a fraction of the price — with free or cheap traffic. That's no secret, just inconvenient for your account manager.

Translation guide
Your stack already speaks European — you just don't know it yet.
Most AWS and Azure services have a solid European counterpart. The most common migration paths from our projects — see the full overview including provider profiles.
| US service | EU equivalent | Notes | |
|---|---|---|---|
| EC2 / Azure VMs | → | Hetzner Cloud / IONOS Compute | Usually the easy part — often with far more performance per euro. |
| EKS / AKS / GKE | → | Managed K8s (IONOS, OVH, Scaleway) or self-managed (k3s/Talos) | Kubernetes workloads are portable by design. |
| RDS / Aurora | → | Managed PostgreSQL/MySQL or HA setup with Patroni | Dump & replication, cutover by switching connection strings. |
| S3 | → | S3-compatible object storage (Hetzner, OVH, Exoscale) | Same API — usually just a new endpoint in your config. |
| CloudFront | → | Bunny CDN (SI) or EU-based alternatives | Often faster and cheaper than expected. |
| Lambda | → | Scaleway Serverless or containers (Knative) | Honest answer: the hardest path. We assess it case by case. |

- Docs & runbooks at handover — no knowledge hostage-taking
STEP 3
Hygge Care
Your ops team, without an ops team.
- Monitoring with defined response times
- Incident response by named contacts
- Patching, updates & security reviews
- Backups incl. regular restore tests
- Monthly cost & status report
- A human on the phone, no ticket limbo
// Our toolkit — your stack stays open & portable
Who it's for
Two kinds of clients. One goal: getting control back.
The startup with a burning cloud bill
Your setup works, but the AWS bill is eating your runway. Enterprise customers ask about EU hosting in security questionnaires — and your team has no time to run the move alongside the product.
- You know Hetzner. You just never had the time.
- Kubernetes or container setup in place
- Migrating on the side is impossible — we take it over completely
- After cutover: runbooks for your team, no lock-in with us
The SME that wants clarity
You've read about the CLOUD Act and your data protection officer is asking uncomfortable questions. You want out of the dependency — without risking day-to-day operations and without your own cloud team.
- A clear decision paper instead of tech gibberish
- Fixed prices and a contact person with a phone number
- Compliance credentials (BSI C5, ISO 27001) of the target providers
- If you wish: we run everything for you (Hygge Care)
Radically honest
What we do not promise
- "90 % savings!" — Calculated honestly, it's usually 50–70 %. We count migration costs and true break-even, not marketing percentages.
- "Everything is migratable!" — Some proprietary services have no sensible replacement. Then we say so: this part stays (for now), the rest moves.
- "GDPR compliance at the push of a button!" — EU hosting takes the CLOUD Act out of the equation. Your processes remain your homework. We build the foundation.
- "Hetzner solves everything!" — We're vendor-neutral and earn nothing from recommendations. Sometimes IONOS, STACKIT or OVHcloud is the better fit.
"Our competitors sell the cloud exit as an emergency operation, sirens blaring.
We think moving to a better home should feel good. Plannable. Transparent. Coffee instead of cortisol.
That's hygge. That's why we're named after it."
— Your HyggeCloud team
The process
No big bang. Every step reversible.
Understand
Inventory, dependencies, costs, compliance. We look before we touch anything — nothing gets migrated that isn't understood.
WEEKS 1–2Plan
Target provider, architecture, migration order, rollback plan. As a fixed-price offer, not a bottomless day-rate barrel.
WEEKS 2–3Move
Build the new environment in parallel, sync, test under real load. Your production keeps running undisturbed. We only switch when everything is green.
WEEKS 3–10Relax
Cutover, then two weeks of hypercare. Handover with docs & runbooks — or we keep running it. You decide how hygge it stays.
CUTOVER + 2 WKS HYPERCAREFAQ
The questions you actually have
Can Hetzner & co. really keep up with AWS technically?
For 90 % of startup and SME workloads: yes. Compute, Kubernetes, managed databases, S3-compatible object storage, load balancers — all there, all production-proven. Where it gets tight (proprietary serverless, exotic managed services), we say so honestly in the check — see the alternatives overview.
How long does a migration take — and what does it cost?
A typical setup: 4–12 weeks from kickoff to cutover. Migration projects usually range from €15,000 to €80,000 — as a fixed price after the check.
The business case shows the payback upfront: with typical savings, break-even often comes in under a year.
Will our customers notice the move?
The goal is: no. We run parallel operation — the new environment runs and gets tested while the old one keeps serving. The switch happens via DNS cutover, usually within a maintenance window of minutes, or none at all.
What if something goes wrong?
Every phase has a rollback plan, and the old environment stays untouched until well after a stable cutover. Worst case: we switch back and you're exactly where you were — minus one illusion, plus a clean inventory.
Why not just use the hyperscalers' "sovereign cloud"?
You can. But the parent company remains a US corporation under US law — so the core question stays open. If sovereignty is your goal, a European provider is the consistent answer. If not, we'll tell you that too in the intro call — we assess both options neutrally.
We don't have an ops team. Who runs it afterwards?
That's what Hygge Care is for: monitoring, incident response, patching, backups, a monthly report — with named contacts instead of anonymous ticket systems. Alternatively we hand over, fully documented, to your team or your existing IT partner. Runbooks are part of every migration — hoarding knowledge is not our business model.
Are we automatically GDPR-compliant after the move?
EU providers without a US parent take the CLOUD Act risk out of the equation and greatly simplify your DPAs and data protection impact assessments. Compliance of your applications and processes remains your job — we build the infrastructure foundation and document it properly. More →
Do you lock us in afterwards?
No — that would just be a new lock-in with a friendlier logo. Everything is built as infrastructure as code in your repository, documented and transferable. Hygge Care is cancellable monthly. If you no longer need us, that's not an accident — that's the plan.
Your data deserves a home.
Not a sublease.
30 minutes, no strings attached, honest. We'll tell you whether the move is worth it for you — and if it isn't, we'll save us both the time.
